The Vista Center for the Arts will not be presenting a 2024-2025 season as we explore exciting partnership opportunities with the City of Surprise, Vista Foundation, and Dysart Schools. During this review period, you can still enjoy performances at our venue. However, please note that The Vista Center for the Arts will not be managing these events, nor will we be responsible for any aspect of the event experience or box office services. Tickets will be sold through a third-party provider by the event organizers.

SOUNDS OF THE SEASON

Associate Conductor Nicholas Ross gets us into the spirit of the season with a side-by-side with the West Valley Youth Orchestra, Claire Gordon, Conductor. Enjoy  traditional favorites such as Tyzik's arrangement of Behold the Lights and selections by  Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and Vaughn-Williams among others.  Get your tickets early for this always sold-out concert!

“CHRISTMAS GOLD”“ Continuing its Golden Anniversary theme, The Arizona Winds will “ring in” the Christmas season for its West Valley audience at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15 th with its “Christmas Gold” concert. Well-known for its innovative programming and entertaining presentations, the Arizona Winds continues its tradition of excellence, bringing the spirit of Christmas joy to its enthusiastic audience with unique seasonal arrangements including A Nutcracker Fantasy; Parade of the Wooden Soldiers; and the special Christmas story Twas the Night Before Christmas, narrated by the “Voice of the Arizona Winds”, John Sipple. “This is a great concert for the entire family”, stated the band’s Music Director and Conductor Rich Shelton, “one you won’t want to miss!”. Doors open at 3:00 p.m. Concert at 4:00 p.m. Admission to all Arizona Winds concerts is free, no tickets required.

UNITY: A MUSICAL JOURNEY

Guest Conductor Kayoko Dan takes us on a compelling musical journey with Coleman's Umoja: Anthem of Unity, a vibrant celebration of togetherness. Theofanidis's Rainbow Body transports listeners through ethereal textures and spiritual motifs, leading to a finale of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, a monumental work of intense emotional landscapes.

THE BARBARIAN ARTIST

Guest Conductor Daniel Wiley delves into the minds of composers expressing their humanity and leading us through tales of love gone awry with Coleridge-Taylor's Petite Suite de Concert and Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet. Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, expresses the political adversity of a composer deemed a “barbarian artist” by the Soviet regime and at risk of political exile.

Arizona Winds Concert Band

“SUNDAY MATINEE” The Arizona Winds presents another of its ever-popular and exciting movie- theme productions. As part of the band’s “Movie Magic” series, this concert, titled “Sunday Matinee”, will introduce award-winning musical scores and video clips from some of the silver screen’s most iconic motion pictures to include The Big Country, Dances with Wolves, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, 101 Dalmations and the Lone Ranger. In addition, the Arizona Winds will feature young Ranya Mulk, a very talented local high school violinist, performing John Williams’ hauntingly somber theme to Schindler’s List. The band rounds out its performance with scores and video to a couple of laughter-filled movies: Mouse Hunt and Chicken Run. Doors open at 3:00 p.m. Concert at 4:00.

FOLK MUSIC OF THE AMERICAS

Guest Conductor Michael  Stanley illustrates ways in which folk music has influenced classical composers, the basis for some of their most popular works. Inspired by American folk music, Copland wrote Appalachian Spring; Márquez drew from the dance music of  Mexico in  Danzon No. 2.  Dvořák took inspiration from spirituals and Native American music for his New World Symphony.

Guest Conductor Alex Amsel, leads us on a musical journey to discover what 21st Century Argentinian composer Benzecry’s Obertura Tanguera has in common with Brahms’ 19th Century Symphony No. 1 and Strauss’ 20th Century Der Rosekavalier.  Explore how nostalgia in music pays homage to the past and propels us forward into a better future.
